I have captured breeding pairs of various creatures which all have been tamed to +Tamed+ and have a pasture, but none of them are reproducing.  My honey badgers for instance I have had for 6-7 years now.

As I am about to capture myself some Voracious Cave crawlers and Rutherers specifically meant for reproduction what am I doing wrong so I don't wait many many years for nothing?

they should breed... the only thing I can think of, how many pets and tamed creatures do you have? Usually it doesn't matter, but I had trouble breeding jaguars untill I butchered some stuff

Have males and females not in cages and wait.  That's usually all you need to do.  There is a population cap on animals, but it's a per-species limit, so you shouldn't have a problem with that.

Some creatures can't breed.  Animals need to have the appropriate tags in the raws to breed.  Honey badgers do, so there's no reason for them not to breed.  Are you sure you have both male and females?  Not in cages?

Voracious Cave Crawlers don't have the CHILD tag, so they can't breed.  Rutherers do, so you should be able to breed them.

If the Pen/Pasture is toooo large it will take any creatures longer to breed.

I do have quite a large amount of creatures, happened to get a dogsplosion which I've been trying to contain for a few fort years now.. :P    but like the other poster said I have always been under the impression it's on a per species basis. It's starting to get under control now so I'll post back if I suddenly start getting honey badgers when the dog population gets cut down more.

They are not in cages, the pasture is 5x10, 3 females, 1 males.

ah pity about the cave crawlers :P

Btw, does it matter if they are injured?

Nonsense.  Breeding is by spores.  The animals don't need to be anywhere near each other.

Btw, does it matter if they are injured?

It might.  An animal that is frequently unconscious or otherwise crippled might not be able to get or stay pregnant.  It's not that there's a body part associated with pregnancy, but that trauma can cause miscarriage.  I haven't done serious testing along these lines, but I have noticed that wild animals that are injured or constantly scared don't seem to get pregnant.

Hmm that might be the cause then, my cage traps in my entrance are behind many traps and the honey badgers I caught were the ones who survived that, they are however fairly injured from that.

Animals can't become pregnant while in cages as far as I know. Take them out for a bit, then put them back in. The spores should impregnate them. I had some grizzly bears who were breeding non-stop until I put them in cages. The cubs grew into adults and I didn't have another liter of them for the 2 or so years they were in the cages. This is the only reason I can think of that caged wild animals will give birth in the cage, but then never give birth again. I captured 3 one humped camels, one gave birth, and hasn't again in several years. These camels were never tamed.

I wonder how many times he has to repeat that the animals are tamed and not in cages

wild animals also get pregnant on your map now, but rarely stay on the map long enough to give birth. The only time I had it happen was with a family of hippos

Well finally caught myself a fresh non injured pair, they are breeding just fine, so the injuries the previous female had was most likely the cause then.

I believe that captured enemy mounts can't breed either, but they can still give you practice.

I'm pretty sure crundles have child tag

trainers might go in to reinforce training and disrupt breeding eggs
