Mountain Hall Neighbors Separate from Dwarf Neighbors
« on: March 01, 2012, 10:09:33 pm »

While looking for an untamed wilds near a tower embark on 0.34.04, I found a neighbor called Mountain Halls, while still having Dwarves listed as neighbors.

Mods?

If none besides the tileset, my guess would be that at some point in your world's history, a mountain hall had all its inhabitants slain but it wasn't sacked or conquered, then a necromancer decided that it looked like a nice place to settle.

Mayhaps it's a land of mystery and wonder?

Or maybe, just maybe, a rogue band of dwarven hedonists met a group of...perfectly normal elves, and procreated? Mountainous halls would be the only thing that could hold both the elves' height and the dwarves' girth, after all.

Yeah, only mods are Phoebus' tileset and [PET_EXOTIC] to [PET] Raw converts. If anyone wants the save I can upload to DFFD, I don't have the time to see what the Mountain Halls would do.

Duplicated raws :(

Doubt it, I edited the save raws after putting in the tileset.

I have something similar in my fort- my "neighbors" list shows "town".  No mods, and I am on a map created by the standard world gen formula (I think I chose second-highest for sites, beasts and savagery) which ran history up to year 550.  I wonder if the key here is having a longer history?

Maybe "town" means that the town in question is run by a vampire or a beast or something?

Is there any special way to find neighbors like that? Unfortunately you can't use the search option, but maybe you can check in some worldfile?

That was my start (ver.34.10)
After i reach 50 dwarfs
i had every season an siege of the undead one or two groups of 50 allways
during the first siege 5 kobold ambush me ^^ this guy killed about 40 undead and lost only 2 man, than both groups left me
know i am besieged by 90 undead(10 were killed by the goblins - the groupsize is allway 50- undead goblins or elves^^) who just killed 12 goblins which ambushed me
my defens till know ist to close the door and wait ....

It's an undead infested mountain hall.

So i played for a few more years
after this two years of siege i strike back - killing the complete undead army with 10 crossbowman
and then 50 again ... killing them again and then 50 again and i kill them ...
than i had about 4 month of peace and the caravans did came back first the elven, but their trader was killed so no trade
than the humans, yes we trade after 5 years the first time, during the human visit an siege again ....
than the dwarf caravan visited me and again an siege .....
after the very first siege of the undead i had no migration i think the last was sping 253 and i stoped playing spring 258
its pretty boring fighting the undead again and again and again and again ........
it takes to long, i would need an bigger army(becouse this guy attack 50-100 undead every season so you need an standing army)
and becouse there is no migration i would have to seal my home for 50 years till i have enough soldiers.

so i did not had any special monsters or even necromancer but more than 1000 undead guys during the years.
(i would maybe play it again but i would change the strategy)
but know i would to start on an new created map in the year 1
