Is there any way to treat wounds? My adventurer has a broken hand and it won't heal.

Fast travel doesn't always work. My character has had a broken nose for more than an in-game month now that no amount of fast-traveling will heal. His companion has had a chipped femur for just about as long. Strangely, much more serious breaks healed within a day or two if I fast traveled.

But yeah, if multiple periods of fast traveling don't heal your injuries, they're around to stay. There is no wound treatment in Adventure mode yet (though considering there are Surgeons and Diagnosticians, among other things, I'm sure that will change eventually).

Generally, if it doesn't fix itself in fast travel or a bit of rest, then the only cure is becoming a werebeast at full moon. There's no doctors for adventurers, which is a shame, since we're the few who can afford their bills.

Out of curiosity, does retiring an adventure heal such injuries? And if so, does it do the same for companions?

For that matter, can you even find companions again after you retire? I'd assume they'd go back to their home village and rejoin you if you came knocking again.

Nope.

Companions that were with you when you retire should be there when you un-retire, or go visit yourself with a new adventurer.
