Confined spaces and Classified Locations :: fun potential
« on: May 27, 2012, 06:25:59 pm »

IF Dwarf Fortress' players had to deal with:

Classified Locations - http://www.osha.gov/doc/outreachtraining/htmlfiles/hazloc.html
and
Confined Spaces - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confined_space

Yes, it would be hard or even annoying to provide an efficient ventilation system to the entire fortress. But think of the traps you could do: create a classified location and a pressure plate which creates a spark (or open a floodgate so magma touch and heat the wall of the room) then BOOM, vaporized elfs goblins.

Or a confined space without oxygen: asphyxiated nobles invaders.

That would also mean the need of a careful mining plan (for ventilation, etc.)

I see a mod idea here ;)

I think someone actually did mod coal dust, actually.

You could have berries on the rocks and the dwarves would say it was "berry gneiss."
You should die horribly for this. And I mean that in the nicest possible way.

Yep. Correct me if I'm wrong by Lofn was the first who made coal dust mod ("Black Lung" mod), since then others have more or less used that mode in their own works.

You know, they could teach maths like this at school. "There are 105 dwarves in a settlement. A goblin invasion appears and 67 die. Then a migrant wave..."
