seems like the Atom smasher has been nerfed?..

It just seems to launch hundreds of tables and corpses into the air, injuring dwarves and killing animals alike, How do I get rid of all my crappy items now?

I just want to clarify, that by under he meant this.

Raise bridge
dump items on a tile where the bridge was once lowered onto
evacuate
lower bridge
repeat

oh it doesn't do it in one go?...

Maybe I've been a little ambitious with the amount..

First, make sure you are building a raising drawbridge, not a retracting bridge.  Retracting bridges just throw things around.

Second, a raising bridge will smash any items that are in the way when the bridge lowers.  The amount of items does not matter.  When the bridge raises, any items that are on the tiles that turn into a wall are destroyed, and any items on the rest of the bridge just get thrown around.
