Freezing areas.
« on: May 24, 2012, 04:35:21 am »

I'm trying to play as a human (i.e. not become a vampire) but I've found I've started in an area where the ground freezes (It froze after the first night, wtf :(

The well and my waterskin has all frozen. How do I survive, besides killing peasants and drinking their blood, but I'd rather not aggro the civ. Again, I will NOT become a vampire.

I vant to suck your vlooood!

Your only way to live is to become a Necromancer, or do the mundane thing of hunting something and drinking its blood before it freezes.

Heat your waterskin/frozen liquids on a campfire

It does. Shift+I to interact with the fire.

If you're out of ice, pick up some snow and put it in a container (backpack works). You can also use (I) on a container to fill it with snow, but this is usually a waste of weight since there is almost always snow on the ground in freezing areas and you can just get more once you're thirsty again.

Use (g)round to start a campfire adjacent to you. Use (I) to interact with that container and select the 'heat x by campfire' option.

Blood spatters seem to take a while to freeze, and to freeze at lower temperatures (due to higher salinity?), so killing ice wolves etc. is also a good source of beverages.

If you interact the container with the fire, it uauly gives you a page of options before 'heat.' Interact the ice or snow with the fire. Only 1 option.

Ah, you can.
U-A to lower well, U-A to raise it, Shift-I to open inventory, select the waterskin, a to fill it.
