World Gen Rebellion
« on: May 20, 2012, 02:21:00 am »

I was browsing a world map in Legends Viewer when I noticed that apparently an entire goblin civ had been conquered in near equal parts by humans, elves, and dwarves. The thing was, the "occupying" civs only left behind a token population of one or two of their own, or sometimes left the Dark Fortress entirely to the remaining couple dozen goblins!

So my suggestion is, since attacks with the intent to recapture conquered sites already happen in world gen, why not implement world gen "rebellion" events where the native population overthrow their would-be conquerors, and if the occupying force is insufficient to stop the insurgents, the rebels reassert control over the site for their civ or possibly start a new civ.

Of course, this would also require additional code to force conquering forces to leave more than a couple people in their conquered sites, otherwise the rebellions would always win. And since hundreds of years could pass between conquest and rebellion, this might also require "trading" of soldiers from occupying civs to maintain dominance over the natives.

And no, this has nothing to do with the upteen "dwarf mode/scenario/adventurer" rebellions that I kept seeing in my preliminary search.

This sounds like a good idea. 90% sure it's already planned, though.

There should be more "end states" to occupation, and they should be more frequent.  As it stands, there are far too many examples of the "10389th raid of Snotbuttressed" when it comes to Goblin Wars.

I would love to see far more Ruins.  More "Dark Human Fortresses".  Possibly even converting a site or two into a town or hamlet, with the Dark Fortress still standing in the middle like a castle normally would.

I like fortresses because they are still underground.

That sounds awesome. It makes me think about what elves or dwarves would do to captured goblin sites...or what goblins would do to their sites...or what elves would do to human and dwarven sites...or what dwarves would do to human sites...or what anyone would do to kobold sites...

I know what people would do to elven sites: Build something!
