Masons using wheelbarrows to transport rocks to job site
« on: June 06, 2012, 02:26:33 pm »

What i have found that if rocks are needed for a job like building walls, the mason carries the rock at the reduced speed, but that tends to take awhile regardless of distance, so what I am proposing is that masons or others that need to carry heavy items(furnice operators) can use a wheel barrow to transport the rock to the job site to speed things up, and have a wheel barrow or two be assigned to a workshop.

While this might be a good idea in principle, and if expanded upon, if you are using raw rock for construction you are probably doing it wrong.

Make blocks: They give you 4 times as much material (equivalent to the old masterwork rate), and are hauled at the same speed as wheelbarrows.

Using wheelbarrows to bring materials to the workshops might be a good idea, but if you use minecarts and quantum stockpiles right, it really shouldn't be necessary.

Even with block wheel barrows could be used, by having the max amount of blocks a wheelbarrow can carry, up to the max needed for the jobs using blocks, allows for more wall sections built per trip to the stock pile, and I don't use raw rocks for building, I was tossing it out there.

Ok, so instead of making a trip to the stock pile every time, the mason takes a wheelbarrow, loads it up with blocks to the max, being the maximum the wheelbarrow can take or the maximum number required for the job, and brings the loaded wheelbarrow to the job site.  The mason then proceeds to take the blocks out of the wheelbarrow for the job at hand untill done or the wheelbarrow is empty, in which he goes to get more blocks.
