So I got some migrants and...

Sadly, it's a male, so I can't breed an army of those.
But still pretty cool.

You've got a gremlin child, too. Your civ is pretty strange, unless you have modded the raws

Nah, I haven't modded anything.
And just after those two appeared, a weretortoise came in, killed a baby lama, turned into a friendly goblin and ran away.

what's there on the "overall familiarity" page of your z->animals screen? what's the status of spiders and gremlins? Also, what do the legends say about your civ?

They're all domesticated. Checking legends.
EDIT: Nothing unusual in the legends, if you don't count the first leaders of the civ being both necromancers
Lots of wars with Goblins, dingoes becoming enemies, necromancer leaders, hmm...

Wait didnt you check the animals available to you on embark?
You could have had a breeding pair of GCS.
Though I dont remember if they bred or not. Still, free GCS.

OK, cave-ins were always pretty deadly, but with the new falling object damage they are downright brutal.  As far as I can make out from the logs, many people were killed by the flying bodies of other victims.  One baby's corpse ricocheted off three other people, two walls and the floor.

you'd need to edit GCS more so you can actually breed them

Gremlins are smart and will do things around the fortress. You won't be able to control them though, as far as I know. After a few of fisher gremlins managed to get themselves killed by an ambush, I promptly removed the pet tags from them.

'v'iew them to see their skills. They will do jobs associated with those skills. Unless I'm totally wrong.
