That's good to hear Telle :D I guess once things settle down the Ivy Bridge will get some good support as a laptop addition since it has a good integrated graphics capacity. The lack of the huge jump in processing is probably due to the massive increase in the integrated graphics part. Since they are also going with Ivy Bridge to a smaller size manufacturing process (20nm?) it is going to be interesting to see just how much they can stuff into anything, everything, for further awesome computing power.

The entire idea behind the Kepler architecture is pretty cool. If it takes a while to really get refined that will be fine with me. Waiting for DDR4 to get really standardized and optimized in the coming years. Intel has said that they don't even plan to start implementing it in their stuff until 2014-ish so I can deal with waiting. :D
You know the only thing that really needs to upgrage is speed up hard drives or increase the lifetime of SSDs cause everything else is fast enough.

I just got one of these and it does not dissaponit

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834246327

can play Skyrim on high settings with no lag
Thanks for the recommendation man, but I'm more interested in a desktop.

Not really interested in dedicating the time and energy involved in building my own.  Ultimately, between work and learning a new language, it really comes down to not having enough free time.  If anyone cannot recommend something from newegg, I suppose I'll have to sit down and brush up on my computer know-how.
Err i can put it past my company and make one for you....

I was going to find a Toshiba desktop to recommend to you since I love Toshiba, but they don't make desktops. How ridiculous.

I'll admit to curiosity -- what kind of labor cost are you looking at nowadays to have a computer built? Cost beyond hardware and all that.

I've been eyeballing this (and it sorta' goes as a suggestion for OP -- it seems decent for the cost, and reviews on newegg are acceptable. Might need an HD upgrade or some externals, though, depending on how copious copious is.) for a bit now as a sort of bargain decent-ish machine, but my constant question is "could I get someone to build a better machine for less?" It'd be an easier question to answer if I had a better idea of what current prices are like, heh.

Or the cost of a mid-range video card, to put it into perspective. Still, that's not bad considering shipping a full PC costs more than it should. A flat fee is better than an hourly.

I, of course, have to chime in with my recommendation.
Do you own this setup?  If so, did you customize it at all or go with the standard package?  Does it run quietly?  Not familiar with Beats Audio, is it quality?  Thanks for the recommendation!

Copypasta from PM:

I own the HPE-560z, which is a little more powerful and expensive than what you were looking for (and is about a year and a half old now.) Every HP that I've had my hands on has run fairly quietly, and in a normal environment, my 560z is nearly silent.

As for HP's reliability, I'm a bit biased. I represent HP in numerous retail environments, and on top of that, I'm quite the fanboy. However, representing HP has given me great insight into the company as a whole, and here's what I know. HP has been around since 1939, when they were founded by two guys named Bill and Dave in a garage. HP machines comprise 75% of all machines used for credit card transfers, and 90% of machines used for mobile data transfer and storage. HP has billions of dollars worth of contracts in infastructure, government and cloud services, and has a stranglehold on the title of the world's largest consumer computer manufacturer, to boot. We sell two PCs every second, worldwide. Over a quarter of all PCs in the US are HP (As of 2011, this number was 26.5%.)

Thanks for your interest, and if you have any questions, please let me know!
