Is it true that even when embarked on oceans that the ocean can be fished out?

The whole point of this fort is to make a fishing dependent fortress.

What's the average fish population per biome?

If you embarked at the intersection of multiple ocean biomes, and multiple land biomes that all had rivers or pools, would this be enough fish to supply a modestly-sized fort for a couple dozen years?

You can also mod vermin population to be functionally limitless.  What're the chances you'll fish out seventeen trillion mussels?

Related, you can also make outdoor animal populations extinct by over-hunting, though at least in that case there are measures you can take to prevent it without having to mod the raws.

Is there a way to mod so that vermin breed?

My current fort is on the ocean, with a river emptying into it. I have 9 fisherdwarves who do nothing but fish during the 6 or so months the water is liquid. So far I haven't fished it out in over a dozen years, but that might have something to do with the diversity. There's got to be 30 different types of fish being caught. The wild animal population is just the opposite: 4 types and they rarely show up.

I think export local image or something like that can give you the population of each creature per biome.  Each biome area has its own name right?  in which case you'll see how many vermin fish are there.  If you're on an ocean, you could have a supply of hundreds of thousands of fish before they go extinct.  not an expert though.

Update: fished out. Since this happened, no fish have been caught at all in over 4 years. I don't think they repopulate at any noticeable rate.
