How do you apply webs to traps?
« on: April 25, 2012, 05:00:27 pm »

I read the wiki and didn't get much of an answer in what I was reading (GCS, Web, Traps, etc.)...how, exactly, do you apply a web to a trap?

You get a creature that produces thick webs, like a GCS, put them near the traps that you want webbed, then put something that the webber will shoot webs at (something hostile) on the far side of the traps from the webber. The webber shoots webs at the target, covering the traps in the process.

^Lol. It's Dwarf Fortress. If you were afraid he would say that, then you already knew your answer.

I guess you start by catching a GCS in a cage.
Big Subterranean Arachnids are BUILDINGDESTROYER, so build a door down in the caverns, and surround it with traps 2 deep.
Large Underground Arthropod sees door, runs to attack it, falls in cage.
Step 1: Complete

Step 3: Profit!

I think they're only weak building destroyers, so that means you have to make it a wooden door.

You could have berries on the rocks and the dwarves would say it was "berry gneiss."
You should die horribly for this. And I mean that in the nicest possible way.

Doors are annoying. Just build a statue somewhere and make sure it is surrounded by cage traps, 2 tiles away from the statue because GCS can destroy buildings 2 tiles away.
