Job priority system
« on: April 29, 2012, 11:34:49 pm »

I think there should be a system to tell your dwarves what priority level a specific job has. you could have huge non-essential projects like engraving everything and set all dwarves to the correct labor, and then you would get a mildly useful amount of work out of would-be idlers. If possible, it might be nice to have jobs with priority -1 that it will list any dwarf doing as idle, but will still give them satisfied at work thoughts. Note that for this to work, priority systems would need to be assigned to EVERYTHING, from designations to workshop orders to stockpiles, although not for sleep, food, or other necessary self assigned jobs. There are also a few other things that it could be good for: you wouldn't have to cancel old jobs to get ones you need done ASAP, and you could have areas excavated completely one by one.

I like it.  Also add a queue system for designations and constructions.  Dig this room, then that room then build the floor over there.

While adding magma to anything will make it dwarfy, adding the word "magma" to your post does not necessarily make it funny.
