corpse piles and butchering
« on: April 20, 2012, 03:42:56 pm »

hmmm. i hear prey tell of dragons being butchered, and my dwarves moving corpese to designated piles.

this, however, is not the case.

well anyway, i recently had a seige featuring fun in the form of cave-y dragony shapes, and i though, although my food meal stocks well exceed 500, dragon flesh wouldnt go amiss. also, many of the foolish flying giant cave swallows had taken it upon themselves to face these 8 beastys on their own, resulting in missing heads of many-a-bird. in honor of their brave effort, i wanted them to be eaten aswell. but the dwarves under my care saw fit to refuse my command! why is this!

also, why do they refuse to shift all the bloody kobold and goblin theive corpses to the pile i designated!?!?

lots of booze

Corpse stockpiles are only for dwarf corpses.  Dragons, kobolds, and goblins go on a Refuse stockpile.

If the corpses are outside, then in order to move the corpses, you need to enable gathering of refuse from outside in the Orders menu.

Go to the
  • rders menu, then go the [r]efuse menu then set "dwarves gather refuse from outside" on. Also, gobbo, kobold and dwarf corpses are labled as "corpses" in the stockpile menu, not sure about dragons though.

I don't know what's happening in your fortress, but all of my pets are stored in the refuse stockpile.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

Actual named pets, that is, as opposed to strays.

Dwarves like their pets.   *realy* like their pets.

How else do you explain my recent case of urist mcfisherdwarf, with 65 cats? He was angry that they didn't get coffins. I have suspicions about why he hasn't picked a bride you know.
