Legacy versus SDL: What's the difference

What is the difference between the Dwarf Fortress legacy and SDL downloads? Both are listed on the website.

I thought it was just my computer that made it run slower than most people's games. Also, which version does LNP use?

SDL. Legacy is there for a very, very tiny minority of users who SDL causes problems for.
