All constructed walls (and floors - really, just anything built with b + shift-c) are magma-proof. So are all natural walls. Toady hasn't implemented constructions/rock/ice being destroyed yet. They're invincible at the moment.

Ya... When he does that... And makes seigers plan new paths when they fail, instead of going down the trap hall... And gives them dig ability... And build bridge ability... And able to climb over walls... That'll be fun :p

Ohhhh, yes. Definitely. I'm greatly looking forward to that update. It'll mean a decrease in FPS, but totally worth it, in my opinion.

It's indeed going to be awesome. Of course (not counting feature drift, Toady is rather renowned for doing bug fix releases and then suddenly deciding "hey I'm going to add beekeeping!" or "hey I'm going to add mine carts!") at the current rate it's going to be about 10-16 years before that particular release comes out, so by then we'll probably have computers good enough to deal with the decrease in FPS.
