Had a one run off with a microcline mechanism or goblet or something once.  _{(Alas, poor kobold, upon returning to its lair...  imagine the weeping when it discovered its prize was not the mythical Candy, but mere eye-searingly-ugly stone.)}

If they've been running off with dozens and dozens of crappy junk items without you noticing, they might well have decided to ambush.

Guzzler/curious animal thefts may count towards ambush too, but that's just wild speculation on my part.

You must also beware common -puppy bone amulets- soaked in troll blood, young skulker.

What raw tags could I add to make animals ambush if they get enough loot?  I want large packs of belligerent bears to show up when I let it become well known in the bear community that I have booze to share.
