Oooh, that's exactly why I use redundancy in my defenses. Even if a siege somehow gets into the fort the mayor can ,from his sealed room, activate any or all of a series of drawbridge locks separating the stockpile from the quarters from dining hall from the hospital from the trade depot.

Ideally the quarters are a panic room, the mayor has some food and drink in a secret area behind his room for the dwarves to survive outlast.
