Can you tell us more about the creature.

I suggest using your archer types which shoot from above.

Some people use the cave-in exploit for killing anything instantly.

No, there is not! abandon all hope!

more serious, a bit more description would be nice. Based on the web thing, anything going at it in melee is going to die, use marksdwarfs who are behind fortifications the beast can't reach, so seal the fort.

Since webbing got fixed it got very dangerous. I mean, if you're coated and anchored to the spot with sticky webs, how well would you fight?

If you don't mind using traps, you could set up bait with an animal in a hallway with upright spear traps. Just open up the animal to the cave, and the FB will wander right in. Close the bride and start pulling the lever connected to the upright spear traps. Instant FB swiss cheese.

Oh ho ho, you've got a material webber?

Depending on what it's made of it may be nearly unkillable with bolts and/or magma, and the webs will make it very hard to kill in melee a you've already discovered. A true monster!

Forgotten beasts can be trapped with raised bridges. Lure it into a bait room with defective statuary, puppies and surplus doors. Pull a lever connected to a bridge while it is mauling the puppies, trapping it inside for further research and use. Walling it in there with masons works too, so long as the masons can't see it and panic while building.

Once you have the beast contained you'll have to decide what you want to do with such a fearsome and useful captive. Yours could serve as an elf-seeking missile, an arrow sponge for rapidly training marksdwarves (they almost certainly won't be able to kill the beast no matter how many times they shoot it), or an industrial silk farm that supplies your entire fortress with infinite fireproof forgotten beast silk clothing.

(if you just want it dead, drop a floor tile on its head)

The best way to directly handle a web shooter is to distract it with a decoy then carefully move your other militia around to its side/back.  It can only fire webs in one direction, so it makes sense to surround.

important lesson: no matter what traps you have, make sure you can seal your base.
