Outdoor Barracks and / or Archery Ranges?
« on: April 11, 2012, 05:39:54 pm »

Is there anything particularly wrong with the idea of setting some armor stands, weapon racks and archery targets outdoors then defining surrounding areas as barracks and archery ranges? I am thinking of doing this in or near pastures in particular.

Hmm, just tried this and it appears it will work fine, though trees block rooms in the same way that walls do. I have no idea how much they'll respect the room boundaries though, I've never tried making a room that's smaller than the walls.

Behaves exactly like a normal room.

Only anything designated from something that has to be built inside has to be designated indoors, the barracks'll work fine. Also stops cave adaption.

Cave adaptation is the reason why I prefer my military to train outside, too. Don't want them whining and puking all the way to their exciting date with the latest siege. It's a good idea to put a roof over the barracks though, in order to avoid rain-related bad thoughts.
