You can filter when choosing what to move to the depot, which is nice ("Finished Goods Bin" for example). 

As far as I can tell you can't do the same in the actual trading menu, so there's no way to see only the merchants' blocks, or logs, or cages... and you have to select EVERY item you want to buy or sell, individually.  Bins sorta help, except that to select five bins you have to scroll down about 20-30 lines to select each one.  Even being able to "collapse" them, hiding the contents, would help a lot.

The thing to do is write a short  enter->down macro and hold it down, selecting everything in the list.  Bins won't be sold but their contents will be, which is nice.  It'll loop back up to the top and start deselecting though.  I haven't actually tried it yet but I think others have.

It'd just be nice to be able to filter on the trading menu itself, and a button to select all filtered items for trading.

that is what I have for trading. Never want to trade bins anyway, or I'll keep on making the damn things PLUS accidentally trade away an artifact.
