Do GCS lay eggs?
« on: April 08, 2012, 10:51:39 pm »

My civ has domesticated them, and I have several breeding pairs. I want to know if I have to keep importing more, or if they'll start to reproduce on their own.

And even if they do lay eggs, you need to add the [CHILD:1] tag

make it lay 500 eggs and with child:1 it will still hatch 500 eggs. I don't really understand how the child tag works, maybe someone can explain it a bit.

That's not how the CHILD tag works - that'll make them become adults after 500 years.

It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

makes sense now I recall dwarfs. baby:1, child:12. It'll be a baby for 1 year, then a child for 12, right?

Close - it'll only be a child for 11 years (12 is the age at which it stops being a child).

oh lol.  How would you make them take 300 years to reach full size? kinda like a shelob/dragons thing (yet be adults after year 1-2)

That would be the [BODY_SIZE:x:y:z], which tells the game that at age x years and y days the average specimen of that creature is to be size z. So a GCS with [CHILD:1] and [BODY_SIZE:300:0:200000] would be sexually mature at age 1 year, but wouldn't reach maximum size until age 300 years (and their MAXAGE token would have to be altered, else they'd die of that at age 20-30, long before reaching full size).
