How long should it take for Raven Eggs to hatch?
« on: April 08, 2012, 07:15:45 pm »

I've got six Raven Eggs in two nest boxes each, with a Raven sitting on both of them. I forbade both them and the nest box to keep the Dwarves from eating them. How long until I have Raven Chicks?

I'd say about three months, then six months for adults.

Isn't it dependent on the size of the animal hatching? If I modded Ravens to be super-small, would they hatch in a week?

Someone's done science on this already and pretty much confirmed that all eggs take about three months to hatch, regardless of the creature's size.

If it's taking longer than that, then your dwarves probably walked on the eggs and made them infertile.

Because dwarves do that apparently...

They dont hatch if forbidden.

I'm positive that isn't true.

I forbid all eggs that I want to hatch so they don't get hauled off to the kitchens.  Forbidden eggs do hatch.

Wait one full season, if they haven't hatched after that have the eggs taken away and try again with the next clutch.
