*facepalm* When will they learn? There are too many (jaded) people in this world for this to work (I mean, this is their 4th attempt), or even sound like a good idea to force it to happen at all.

If the people that are trying to get this to work are determined enough, I think they'd have to bribe some "terrorists" to make a massive "leak of information" and whatnot, just to make people fear-vote this into action (no better weapon than fear). I have a bad feeling that that's the most likely 'nuclear option' they'll resort to using if all else fails.

It may have worked with 9/11 for the time being, but we have nothing heavy enough of an impact in this era to make this work like with a number of paranoia bills (*cough* Patriot Act *cough*) signed in since that incident. Especially since we've seen their negative side-effects over time; we're not buying it.

Speaking of which: Could these same people pushing for this bill be responsible for the "Al-Qaeda: Coming Soon Again to New York" poster? I mean, that was some high quality work there; as if it could have been funded by such people pushing for that fear campaign I mentioned earlier. If that's the case, they're really overplaying their hand here, and I call BS on the "threat".

EDIT:
At least, if I really wanted something like this to be passed (Super-Villain Mode Activate), and I lost as badly as I have that many times (not to forget the amount of funding lost to trying to get it pushed into law); I'd resort to pulling crap like this as well. Bind Everyone or Bust. Plus, the timing of both things couldn't have been better. People are nervous about the poster, and the bill conveniently appears not too long after the poster's appearance. Seems kinda fishy to me. I hope good, honest, people in the FBI prove me correct; and will humbly end this nonsense (despite the bill being a boon to business for them; they're better than that. You don't protect freedom by restricting it. They should know that better than anyone.).

EDIT EDIT:
CHUTZPA will probably be one of their last bills, seeing as they have had enough balls to keep recycling it.

I think this will continue being put forward under different names until people just stop paying attention to it.

Maybe CERN will be nice and invent something much more secure and tamper-proof for us?

It's like the wild west... a bunch of (from their perspective) unclaimed territory that's free for the taking.  Just need to clear out those damn natives.

Seriously, those guys are like Wile E. Coyote, they try this stuff again and again even though they fail miserably every time and have no chance at success.
