Gauntlet reaction results in unusable gauntlets. Help!

I made this cheat reaction for adventurer mode so I could finally explore things without dying every 30 seconds:

Everything works except for gauntlets, which appear in the inventory just like any other item but can't be worn for some reason. Silversteel is just a metal I made earlier that's functionally equivalent to steel. I doubt that's the problem as everything else made with that including all the other cheat reactions up there work just fine. It's just gauntlets.

Does anyone know what's wrong?

I've tried it on elves, dwarves, humans, all the same problem. Even across different worldgens.

Gauntlets are "special" in that they have flags for whether they are "left" or "right" - making gauntlets at a normal workshop always produces a pair of left/right ones, but custom reactions have no way of doing that.

It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

I've honestly tried that a few times only to get the same results. It's somewhat strange in my opinion, but I'm not sure if it's a bug or just something Toady hasn't implemented yet.
