By Ok's light I found this leather journal in the cart. Mother, you were right that I would lose my head if wasn't attached to my neck.
I feel I must recap, the Journey here to this Armok touched hell. IF it can be understood, this rocky plain seems blessed. The gritty soil is firm and soothing.
However, it is what lies in the trees that frightens me. To reach the barren ahppy rocks we had to journey through wild forests. Dik and Thron were lost to dingos, leaving our number to seven.
Fearing the open air and the dark of that wood, I broke ground with Zulban our Miner. Zasit complained about not having a place to plant the Plumpees. Hoping to live up to my position I broke off to clear out a place for her for a week or two.
Zulban kept digging. That Dwarf is head strong. Before I knew it he had broken ground on an underground cavern and came rushing back up the stair shaft excited and drunk.
“Magma!” He cried. “There is Magma right there!” I and Onul the Architect went down to see for ourselves, and sure enough. Armok and the grace of Ok blessed our mission with a fount of earth blood less then twenty floors from the surface.
Onul mumbled something about not needing to cut down any more trees and stumbled away from the blissful heat of the boiling rock.
A week latter he slapped a stack dingy papers in my lap. He had found a way to retool the common design of a smelting furnace to be heated from below. He called it Je-o-tharmal An-er-ji or something.
I wasn't listening, I confess. I had realized Zon could stop skirting the edge of that damed Forrest and be helpful for once. I told Onul he could do whatever, as long as he got the big bridge going. Already I felt the stirring of hope, real hope. This land was indeed blessed by Armok. And the signs of OK the Lolkrab were everywhere.
Work commenced quickly and soon walls of Granite and Gabbro were raised to protect the Under-Furnace as Zulban deemed it and the Stair Shaft.
Now I hear Onul cursing and shouting, that is unlike him. Whatever it be I'm sure he is fine.

Onul Umstizas, that idiot. He dropped valuable Gabbro into the small river, startled by some kangaroos.
Kangaroos of all things. Sodel, our trapper and hunter thinks they may be useful if caught. I just hope Sodel doesn't break his neck. He is the only Dwarf that makes sense around here.
Zasit's first crop of Helmets were gleaned today. Erush is already hard at the still.
Fresh wine, Ok I can't wait!

The Main Keep is progressing beautifully. The Second level was started and the Bridge is complete.
I grew tired of swinging my pick, there is little to dig anymore and I feel restless sitting in the wagon day after day.
Onul grumbled about no one making use of his Forge. I thought I might dust the cobwebs off and give smithing a try. Zulban mined out some gold and now we have gold bars everywhere. Zon is currently helping organize our new wealth.
As if on cue, three mangy wanderers stumbled on our new home.
Cog Idenmorul, A skilled stone artist interested in Architecture and drinking all our wine.
Thikut Tobulidash, who is taking over my digging work. Cog's adoring husband.
Sakzul Logmdrud, A weaver helping Zasit with the mushroom fields
Sodel has had zero luck with catching anything. I feel for him. At least he is trying.
Or I think he is trying. Honestly I see little of anyone except Zon amd Erush down here in the Underforge.
I know Thikut and Zulban carved out a Dorm and Erush cobbled together a couple beds. I'll have to go up and give those a good try. I'll likely dream of gold and roaring magma. Heaven of Ok. Praise Armok!

More mongrels came today. They began work on the Depot. A worthless task, Who would want to give away any of this gold to some stinking Elves? Erush tells me we have had two litters of Puppies and a litter of kittens.
The Migrants are as Follows
Cilob Zaludalath, Teaching me how to work the bellows.
Kadol Oslankes, Understands leather and fish
Kol Thukkanrith, Who is now helping me with the Underforge
Kumil Vutomeng, Another Miner
Minkot Titthalnish, Is going to help Sadol
Nomal Akrullun, Good with Wood.
Olon Momuzdatan, Wife of Feb. A farmer
Feb Unolstinthad , Husband of Olon. A Farmer
Sadol wants to move all the livestock underground. Many of our future Farming digs are now covered in eerie moss. Salob tells me this will feed the sheep and cattle. He wants Nest boxes for the hens and a training area for weasels. Better yet, he already has everything working that way. I told you he was the only one that made any sense.

The Merchants from Ennolumamzefon will be leaving soon. With them goes some of our gold. I hope the rum and wine we got in exchange is worth it.
Kol has begun producing silver hammers. They are alright looking. The sorta resemble what you would expect. He'll get better with time.
Sodel and his buddy have still yet to catch anything. I'm afraid that is the one area he are lacking in fortune. Fish are being caught all over the place now. Apparently the time to for fishing is winter. Sodel did shoot down some Kangaroos a month back. That was good eating.
This 'Liason' is driving me nuts. Kumil Nokgolrigoth is her name and she irritable to deal with. She isn't very approving of the way the Fortress is laid out and he is skitish being so close to the Magma.
I only have her in my hair for a few more days. I pray to Ok I can stand it her thin voice that much longer.
