This is just a story i wanted to share, if you dont want to read, dont.

The story begins at Good (I think it was Joyous Wilds) Desert.
As soon as dwarves stopped at their embark site, the overlord scanned terrain and was amused.
Lots of red sand. Waterfall, small soil layer, no aquifer, and we have brought tons of marble and charcoal for steel, plus wooden spears for danger rooms, this will be glorious.
But in river were Aligators.
Well since we got no weapons we should say good bye to bridge through waterfall *snuff*
But hey! I have idea! - Said the overseer and created military squad composed of 4 miners and equipping themn with pickaxes.
Straight to the mining other unassigned miners went. And as they were about to breach wall where bridge near waterfall stood, they dug one tile and prepared the miner death squad.
3 crocs came and attacked miners.
But crocs died and there were no casualties, even injuries in miners, thanks to breaking skulls with pickaxes.
After carving the entrance, building bridge, the first part of fort including dining room and Trader Depot were done, mason, wood, craftsdwarf and glassmaker workshops got set up, glassmaker started to gather sand, masons built doors, crafter crafted goods.
So happy life of fort flew for whole 2 years undisturbed, managed to make 4 water wheels, find silk, adamantine, yet forgot about millitary.
Well nothing will happen since we can wall of and have 50 war dogs to protect from small animals.
But the FUN began.
Unnoticed vampire killed someone in main dining hall, the rot made everyone sadder, but overseer forgot about sheriff.
Then goblin ambush started, since it was outside of fort, we have swiflty locked ourselves off from the evil.
But worse things started to happen inside.
People were sad, and there were tons of corpses lying around, yep. Vampire.
Tantrums ensued, one even knocked off second safety bridge lever.
People became melancholic, soon died of starvation and made even more miasma, there were not enough coffins.
Migrants came, and got slaughtered by ambush.
Ghosts battered those who were sane and cut off their limbs
We lost a doctor, expedition leader, who never saw it until mayorship. The fog inside of fort was driving everyone insane, with ant men coming and slowly breaking through the dog barricade, we were forced to block underground too, stopping clothes production.
Soon 130 dwarf fort thinned down into 17 dwarves not giving a fuck about anything. The legendary cook is dead, corpses rot, not enough coffins.
The ghosts are ripping off limbs of those who survived. Human traders came and got insane, lets hope there will be no war.
Ohh, dwarf traders came but we got no depot becouse one exploded.
At least the 40 z level magma pump is halfway done...
Goblins left the fort, but will we survive?...?

Totally serious though, just couldn't thing of any better way to say it. Want to see more.

Sounds like your tantrum spiral weeded out the weak, leaving only the hardest, most selfish dwarves behind. Engrave "WHAT DOESN'T KILL US MAKES US STRONGER" across the entrance archway and establish a fort that will live forever.

Actually i think the fort will do quite well when i establish magma pump network to fend of invaders.
:insert evil grin here:
Only mayor is unhappy now due to not having a room.
I hope vampire is dead though, never came to conclusion who it was.

While adding magma to anything will make it dwarfy, adding the word "magma" to your post does not necessarily make it funny.

Anyway, i dont know who to appoint as baron.
But will i be able to appoint baron later if i refuse the offer?
I appoint worthy people but since metalsmith drowned by being pushed into water by camel calf...
