Beasts of Steel (A Futuristic Mech Quest)
« on: April 01, 2012, 08:56:05 pm »

You wake up in your cramped apartment groggy from a vaguely remembered night of carousing. You think. Maybe. Didnt you have something to do? You really feel like you really had something important to do today and it related to your night of carousing. Your eyes drift over to your old plasma screen television set left on from the night before, and lucky for you a fight is on!

Two mechs, one dark red painted dark red, the other a matte black are duking it out, As you start to relax to appreciate the match it hits you. Shit! You have your field exam today for your license! If you pass you would be a bona-fide mech pilot and who knows where that could lead you!

You book it out of your apartment and catch a cab to The Bureau of Pilot Licensing and Registration. After waiting a few minutes in a uncomfortable chair your number is called and you make your way to one of the desks. You are greeted by a rather grumpy looking old lady who doesnt bother looking up from her screen. "Name and Registration hotshot."

(And describe yourself a bit too.)

(( What exactly do you mean registration?

Also, I was thinking our pilot could be a steampunk girl, something like this:

Because trying to stuff Fate/Whatever's engrish and the title of a 17th century book on statecraft into Pokemon syntax tends to make the content incomprehensible.

You are: Steve Varayis.

You have black hair, and the oddest purple eyes. Your motivation? go out there. see the galaxy. Or something (I assume this is in a galaxy, MechWarrior Style) getting paid and commanding a walking tank are bonuses.

May go with this I guess.

Lore Clarification.
Sadly, No galaxy wide exploration, everything still takes place on Earth. A Earth where most people have moved into massive Metropolises after a great war. Corporations hold great sway in politics and mercenary work is a lively business.  Most mechs tend to cap out at nearly 6 meters and seem to bridge the gap between infantry and tanks although in a direct slugfest a tank would win but a mechs mobility make up for this.
