12 Grandfather Clocks
« on: April 02, 2012, 03:20:24 am »

Doing a custom embark, and I just noticed you can bring an Enormous Silver Corkscrew for a low low price of 660 embark points.

So you can almost afford two.

It's referring to an old Oregon Trail joke of using all of your embark points on a hat and clocks for the hell of it. LIKE A BAWSE!

Imagine the will it took to create a fortress like this. And what have you elves built? Nothing. You can only loot and break. You're not dwarves!! You're just termites at Versailles.

It's not that I don't suffer, it's that I know the unimportance of suffering, I know that pain is to be fought and thrown aside, not to be accepted as part of one's soul and as a permanent scar across one's view of existence.

It's a reference to how to lose at Oregon Trail

Still, the more challenging embark is probably 115 kittens and a leather vest.

It is said knowledge is like a foul-smelling herb. It must be cooked well and thoroughly with experience to make it palatable. A young scholar's knowledge is therefore not only worthless but disgusting. -- In Dwarf Fortress you have another paradigm. Gather as much of that smelly herb as you can and toss it at your enemy, fracturing his skull through the +capybara man leather cap+.

A helmet and 12 of some useless ass item. Someone do sme embark testing and figure out which item you can only get 12 of in addition to a leather hat.

Terrifying embark, no skills, microcline only.  8)

Alternative: Animals (preferably cats, at least 1 male + multiple females) only.

Superdwarf Bonus: Trading? That stuff is for elves!

(Too bad the starting dorfs always seem to be clothed, at least in vanilla. In OT, you can be a naked-but-for-hat Boss with 12 grandfather clocks! :P)

Certainly you could argue that DF is a lot like The Sims, only... you know... with more vomit and decapitation.
If you launch a wooden mine cart towards the ocean at a sufficient speed, you can have your entire dwarf sail away in an ark.

Too bad the starting dorfs always seem to be clothed, at least in vanilla.

Delete all clothes from the raws prior to world gen, except armour and hats.
That's what I did in 31.25 (since they can't wear new clothes anyway)

No silly. You need an animatable body part that you can bring on embark to the terrifying biome.

Bring unspun wool.  Lots and lots of wool.

Buy an axe, a pick, and the rest goes to female cats (and one male). You could raise a swarm of cats that, by sheer numbers alone, could cushion any blow and distract all enemies.

I still like the idea of autozombied wool busting the wagon apart in a fit of mindless undead hairy rage.

Truly, an epically bad hair day for all involved.
