The Icy Keys (Let's Play)
« on: April 16, 2012, 04:00:00 pm »

Journal Entry 1:

Two mighty Dwarven clans have ruled these mountains for centuries. Queen Vucar has requested I, Avoz, embark upon a new journey for our clan "The Curious Salve", and establish a new dwarven fortress in The South Swamp. (Why we call it the South Swamp when it's in the Northwest part of the continent, I do not know.)

I am an Outdoorsdwarf having simple days of cutting down trees, gathering plants, and working with my hands. I suppose my skill-set is what placed me in the queens eye. She has chartered me a group of 6 others, and an allocation of supplies. We were in such a hurry I wasn't even able to check who or what we are bringing. I just started walking with my men shortly behind me. We arrive surprisingly fast and I halt the wagon. I take a deep breath in and scout our area.

The miner walked up to me when we arrived and said those words... "What now?"

Journal Entry 2:

Well first things first! I order the miner to start our initial shelter. The fisherdwarf begins to fish the waters, and I get to return to my glorious task of chopping down trees and gathering plants. I can not remember the last time I was able to enjoy the smell of freshly axed trees. I chopped sunrise to sunset everyday!

Journal Entry 3:

We construct a mason's workshop and a carpenter's workshop. The two boys start crafting furniture like beds, tables, and chairs for our new shelter that's being dug out. They seem to be enjoying themselves out here in this free and open land.

Journal Entry 4:

While the work outside continues to progress, the 'tink tink' of our miner inside the ground can be heard. She's making a simple shelter to store our food and drink. The stone she's un-earthed has quickly been crafted into tables and chairs. Our miner can't keep up with our mason's skill.

Digging's a lot like surgery, see -- you grab the sharp thing and then drive the sharp end of the sharp thing in as hard as you can and then stuff goes flying and then stuff falls out and then there's a big hole and you're done. I kinda wish there was more screaming, but rocks don't hurt so I guess it can't be helped.
