You are Space Scraphunter!
« on: April 05, 2012, 04:16:57 am »

In a not so far future, the entirety of mankind has left earth to save  the last flora and fauna. Space stations have been buildt in orbit of every little planet in the solar system, anywhere from the densely populated urban orbital belts of Jupiter to the more rural, but still dense orbital belts around earth, to the middle class swarms around Venus and Mars. Then theres the NASCENSE vessel in far solar orbit, wich functions as a starshipyard. In this adventure, we will be focusing on Earth, from a distance, earth looks like a blue/grey ball, the blue is of course oceans, but the grey isnt clouds, its a dense spherical debris field, the 20 years pre-ascension were terrifying, industry exploiting resources beyond the imagineable, huge wars raged between the superpowers wiping out 40% of the earths population. At a point, at the fringe of a dark age, when we ran out of oil, a new kind of fuel was discovered, it actually had some fancy scientific name but the general public called it Juice, nobody knew what it was made from, other than it burned alot, and that it turned to plasma at room temperature. Using this fuel the remaining people of the earth started a new space age, however the space programs were largely uncoordinated and usually ended up in a firery death to another batch of incompetent crew, that left alot of debris in LEO. Today a handful of companies live from scavenging space wrecks and debris from this field covering most of LEO. It is also very common for corperations to stow their shady cargo in an ephermal orbit, to burn up, so its also very common to find fancy salvage such as advanced computer systems, cloning appartus and the less fancy horribly mutilated corpses of scientists

You are at the spacecraft terminal about to board the Huntington Salvage Co. Wareshuttle. You are holding your EVA gear, an O2 bottle and your backpack wich contains snacks, space food, water and a few ID cards for things like your appartment and your private CMV(Civil Maneuvering Vessel, think small tubular vessels with nothing but some basic life support, a universal docking port and an OMS). Your coworkers are sitting inside the shuttle, one of them holding a beer.
