If you want the kobolds in your fort, try thinking outside the box. Build a really big aboveground structure around the kobolds and connect it to your fort.

Walls might not protect them from the evil mist, but what if you built walls and a roof over the kobolds, and then encased the entire structure in cast obsidian?

Runesmith can add the TAME tag and then you can build a habitat for them and pen them somewhere. Unfortunately Runesmith is still in .25
