Many are tameable, if you can catch and train them
As the name suggests, these are creatures from ancient and modern cultures around the world
Here are the names as well as descriptions of the creatures.
A web search will reveal more of their real-life history;
Ammit:
A terrible beast inhabiting the underworld, eating the souls of those unfortunate enough to meet them.
It posseses an upper body of a lion, lower body of a hippopotamus and a crocodiles head.
Jackalope:
A lagomorph with two small antlers.
Drop bear:
A large, grey, tree-dwelling creature similar to a koala.
They are known to ambush prey by dropping out of trees
Indos Worm:
A huge, terrifying worm inhabiting tropical rivers.
It has 2 large fangs which it uses to capture prey.
Barbegazi:
A small white-furred man with a long beard and enormous feet.
They travel in the mountains that are their home by skiing with their massive feet, or using them as snowshoes.
In the summer they aestivate in caves and tunnels and do not come out until the first snowfall.
Cadejo:
It looks like a dog but it's not a dog. It has deer-like hooves and moves like a deer.
The white Cadejos are known to be benevolent, while the black Cadejos are malevolent.
Muscaliet:
An unusual animal with a hare's body, a squirrel's tail, and a boar's teeth.
They are so hot they kill the trees they build their nests in.
Myrmecoleon:
A beast created by the mating of a lion and an ant. It has the face of a lion and the body of an ant, with each part having its appropriate nature.
Because the lion part will only eat meat and the ant part can only digest grain, the ant-lion starves.
Laelaps:
A female mythological dog who never fails to catch what she is hunting.
Teumessian Fox:
The Teumessian fox is a gigantic fox that is destined never to be caught.
Cadmean Vixen:
The Cadmean vixen is a gigantic fox that is destined never to be caught.
Stone Teumessian fox:
A Teumessian fox, turned to stone by the gods.
Stone Cadmean Vixen:
A Cadmean vixen, turned to stone by the gods.
Stone Laelaps:
The female mythological dog Laelaps, turned to stone by the gods.
Water Leaper:
A giant frog with a bat's wings instead of forelegs, no hind legs, and a long, lizard-like tail with a stinger at the end.
It jumps across the water using its wings.
Nemean Lion:
A vicious monster that can not be killed with mortals' weapons because its golden fur is impervious to attack.
Its claws are sharper than mortals' swords and can cut through any armour.
Allocamelus:
A creature with the head of a donkey and the body of a camel.
Blaford:
Blafards are strange albinos long surmised to be the result of some kind of simian crossbreeding, but of an accidental variety. This creature is a symbol of the degeneration of Humans in the minds of Elves.
It is considered the epitome of sexual disorder.
Fur-Bearing Trout:
A trout with a thick coat of fur.
Globster:
An unidentified organic mass that washes up on the shoreline of an ocean or other body of water.
Pyrausta:
An insect-sized dragon that lives in magma. It resembles a four-legged insect with filmy wings and a dragon's head.
Sleipnir:
An eight-legged horse. Said to be the best of all horses.
Enfield:
A large creature having the head of a fox, the breast feathered as an eagle's, the foreclaws also of an eagle, and with the rear-legs of a wolf.
Wolpertinger:
A lagomorph with the head of a rabbit, the body of a squirrel, the antlers of a deer, and the wings of a pheasant.
Mboi Tu'i:
An enormous serpent with a large parrot head and a huge beak with a red, forked tongue the color of blood.
Their skin is scaly and streaked.
They are considered the protector of aquatic animals and the wetlands.
Pandi:
A humanoid monster a race of giant-eared people with eight fingers and toes, and white hair that turned black with age.
Ao Ao:
A voracious sheep-like creature with a massive set of fangs.
Hippalectryon:
Half-horse and half-rooster, with yellow feathers.
The front half is that of a horse, the rear half a rooster's wings, tail and legs.
Humbaba:
A monstrous fire-breathing giant with the face and paws of a lion, foot claws of a vulture, a bull's horns, and a body covered in horny scales.
Peryton:
An animal with the body of a deer but possessing the plumage and wings of a large bird.
How to install;1) Open the raw folder inside the Dwarf Fortress game files and save a copy of the objects folder to another place. This will let you restore the game to before the mod was installed
2) Extract the game files into the original objects folder mentioned in step 1 using 7-zip or other suitable program. You can get 7-zip
