Missing miners
« on: March 28, 2012, 10:42:45 pm »

I have... several missing miners. All the ones that had picks, as a matter of fact. No idea on what happened. I know two died in accidents, but the others?

And what's with this red paste coming out from under this section of the cavern that collapsed?

Maybe if the other miners were injured, the cave in actually landed on some, obliterating them.

No cavein.aquifer prospection. One was encased in ice, the other was trapped in the mines in spring, and starved. I send my military to explore, and didn't see any adittional corpses, so it doesn't look like that's the case

Ah. How long have they been missing? Are they listed in the missing/dead pane yet?

I had a similar problem.

Finally figured it out.
I had ordered a multi level single square channel dug for a well.
All 3 miners were eventually found in the pool below.

Which brings me to another problem. Is there a easy way to recover bodies/picks from under water?

Ease, I think would depend on the circumstance.

If it's not a sizeable water area, then you might be able to just drain it it into a cistern, that's lower z level then it.

If you can't drain it, you could try to do the Moses Water Pump trick.

Thanks,
The pool is large and connected to a outside edge.  So draining isn't a option right?

Never tried a Moses Water Pump trick.
Sounds Dwarfy.
Maybe its time to try... or I could just forge a new pick.

Does the bloody miner corpse water bother anyone or infect more at the hospital?
