Plump Helmet Blight

First off: Hi everyone! Been playing for a few months, not made an account as I had nothing valuable to say, but have been lurking a bit.
I feel a bit rude to come in and, as my first post, give suggestions, so I hope no one minds too much.

1. Re farming:
If any single suggestion be considered I'd like it to be this one above all else:
Plump Helmet Blight.
Upon breaching the first cavern (so allowing for fort growth) there's a chance that per each season/harvest some/all of your plump helmets contract a blight and so are lost. No more lazy Plump Helmet-reliance for you!

2. Re hunting:
If I may cheekily ask for something to make hunting with the military a bit easier. A refuse stockpile where corpses can be subdivided into 'vermin', 'sentient' and 'other' where other is thus tasty things like giraffes.
(Or maybe I'm just tweaking my stockpiles all wrong).

3. Re livestock:
Fits in a little with the plump helmet blight:
Kefir/Kumis

It's alcoholic so I reason is thus palatable to a dwarf. Kefir grains seem fun.

No dwarf required for supervision, but yes dwarf required to let the poor beast loose once in a while. A cheaper and less effective (yet more reliable) windmill? (Thus not directly replacing a quern, no lazy Animal-reliance for you!). Just seems a bit weird that we retire these animals before the game even starts.

Now to actually be a contributing and less-selfish member of the forum.

Anyway, out of order...

Stockpile changes have been popular suggestions (and occasionally bug reports), recently, so I wonder if just having more modular/raw-editable types of stockpiles might just be in order...

I'm not sure if changes this specific are going to be popular enough to warrant the time it takes to put them in, but more general "make stockpiles moddable" suggestions would probably be more beneficial.

The notion of "pests", which includes insects and fungi and diseases that may kill crops, especially if you have an overabundance of a single, specific plant, is covered in Improved Farming, and is possibly something that Toady will do, as the devpageslist under "Farming Improvements" a mention of adding more pests.  This was based upon the Improved Farming ESV winners, so odds are very good that he'll read what is in those threads.

4.
Additional Mechanics/Traps Wishlist, much like the Improved Farming above, is an ESV winner, and involves animal-powered machinery.



But don't worry too much about posting something that has been in a previous thread, especially in your first post, as that's entirely common.  Everyone forgets to search occasionally, even if they aren't new.

I had a little search, but seemingly not quite extensive enough of one.

Doing a bit of idle browsing I even came across the more editable stockpile thread, which I appeared to have missed earlier, that seems just the ticket.

Also, the handle Kumis was mainly because I had no clue what else to use. And it reads quite easy.
