How does layering Armor and Under work?
« on: March 25, 2012, 08:40:09 pm »

According to the wiki....

If a [LAYER:ARMOR] item is present or to be added and if the sum of the non [LAYER:COVER] items would be less than the sum of the [LAYER:ARMOR] size+permit values then evaluate as true.

So if Greaves have size 15 and permit 30, then I can wear them as long as the sum of the under/over-type clothing already being worn is < 45 (Greaves size + Permit value).

Is this correct?

Not sure, but I think you can wear greaves and trousers.

yes, the permit on an item doesn't care about that item's own size, it only cares about what that item is fitting over.

While adding magma to anything will make it dwarfy, adding the word "magma" to your post does not necessarily make it funny.

< 30

it is permitted to put on as long as you wear items that add up to less than 30
Also, only 1 (S)haped piece

Shaped reminds me of an irritation.

Why can't my dwarves wear metal chain leggings under metal greaves? I know it's because both items are shaped, but seriously...I can wear a mail shirt and a breastplate. Why not greaves and chain leggings?

Permit is the important thing to look at here. Items can be worn as long as the items beneath them total up to less then their permit value. The size token deals with how large the item is calculated when you want to put on any more clothing on top of it.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!
