Marriage and lineage
« on: April 03, 2012, 12:39:15 pm »

Hey guys I just had a few suggestions for adventure mode that came to mind, figured I'd put them down and see if you like them as well.
In the development list, there are a few things that I think sound awesome and should be expanded upon. One was an increase and overhaul of the follower system, as well as speaking and interacting with people in general. I like this idea, we should take it one step further and add marriage. Marriage leads to children and lineage, when a child comes to age, when and if the player dies, they can then assume control of their child. Nothing better than some revenge right? With the new construction and farming additions it would be fun to set up a farm and survive in the wilderness with your family. Then if something were to happen to you, like crushed to death by a giant sponge, your kid can seek revenge and put your soul to rest.

Just some of my ideas, not the best in the world, but tell me what you think. :)

Already planned and discussed in DFTalk 16.

Quote from: Toady One
; if your adventurer is a notable killer of another civilization then retires back in a friendly town, and then you start at the aggrieved civilization you can get a quest to kill your adventurer, but they're still just window dressing over there. So that's that form of legacy, and then there's the familial legacy you can have, when we get to the relationship stuff you'll be able to leave behind little playable childrens and things. I suppose your spouse might be playable too, I wonder ... if you get killed it'd be fun to go on a vengeance quest or something as the aggrieved widow or widower.
