I can't figure out whats going on. I have some cage traps setup. It was working earlier. I built a bunch of new cages and cage traps. I have some cave creatures and some goblins prisoner, Two of the goblins are in the stockpile, but everything else is still on the cage trap. animal hauling is not turned off, the cages aren't forbidden, burrows/alerts are off.. What else could it be? I have 50 idle dwarfs and nobody is doing anything. the mechanics are replacing the cages with new ones, but they aren't retrieving the cages with animals in them. My stockpile is set to accept everything including empty cages and traps and has plenty of room.

Well that was strange. I deleted and recreated the stockpile and didn't help. But, then I saved and exited DF, then restarted. One single cage got moved onto the stockpile.  So i deleted the stockpile and recreated it and my idlers number dropped as everyone decided to do their jobs and haul cages...

scratch that, they only moved some of the cages, not all.

I think cages are under animals in the stockpiles, do you have space to put them?

Wait. I figured it out... damned stones. I used d-b-h to hide all the stones in the new arena room, and the dwarfs won't haul cages because hidden stones are using up all the stockpile space.
