It's been a while since i've done anything really creative with DF so i'm thinking of making a little story based on a fort.  Can i get some feedback on these initial templates for df critters? Proportions, maybe some opinions on the cutebold vs. mini lizard kobolds. Also wondering about what colors people think of when they imagine these guys.

Edit: Alternative Kobolds

I like how blank the human looks, and how unmoved the dwarf is.  The kobold looks more like a dog though, which is adorable and might be accurate, but really just looks like a dog.  I think the issue is the "snout" isn't quite right.

Also, square shoulders.

I think that maybe the elf might be better represented by a slight frown.  It always sounds like they're frowning when they're talking to me.

The human is perfect.  "What a pleasant place you've carved out for yourselves...

Does the far-right kobold seem any less dog-like?  I'm working on the elf faces now, and then i'll start on trolls.  I'm thinking big ugly and mean.

I always imagined trolls having blank expressions.  Maybe a bit of open hanging mouth.
