Take ALL THE WOUNDED
« on: March 18, 2012, 05:45:52 pm »

The miners looked unto the sky, oblivious to the rampart they just channeled. An all too familiar rumbling tore them from their feet, and quickly engulfed them in a deathly shroud, dragging them into the pit they themselves had dug. One broken cry was choked by the dust, leaving behind a bloody and flattened smile. Those who were not stunned by the impact fled the scene, hurrying from the cramped confines with reckless urgency. Those left behind looked unto the sky behind broken bones, struggling to stay conscious through the pain. From atop his vantage point, a man in purple clothes looked down on the black cloud, and hurried to do his job and save some lives.

tl;dr, 31.25 and my CMD has decided to recover the survivors of a disastrous cave in (four immediate legendary miner casualties), the thing is, he's carrying two of the injured at the same time. The rest are being picked up by masons and miners. Did anyone ever notice this, or is this a really special occurrence demonstrating the empathy of ASCII characters once again?

dwarf C carries dwarf B
dwarf B carries nothing because he is on break

!!Science!! this thing up, we need to know if this is a bug or a one of the healthcare skills (legendary recover wounded +5)!

I'm not sure how I would go about strategically injuring stacks of Dwarfs without injuring the Dwarfs they would be carrying

I can confirm that they aren't just stacked on the same tile, the CMD is dragging them both  :'(

Even if this isn't intended, it sure as hell should be. At least, for dwarves with high enough empathy and strength to do so.

A rare and sudden case of Dwarven efficiency. It might be best if your CMD stays in hospital, this isn't right.

What does the CMD's inventory screen show?  I'm guessing it lists two dwarves as "(hauled)", but would love to have it confirmed. ;)

It doesn't show up when a single dwarf is "hauled", so no.

I guess i just have alot of injured dwarves then, because i've noticed this ages ago. Sometimes they'll go out to recover one wounded, and then turn around, and then go grab another one. They don't have to have been injured in the same place.

Yes, I've seen this, but my dwarves did it all the time so I thought it's normal. I had a horrible evil rain that made dwarves pass out from the pain, and the healthy ones hauled multiple of them to the hospital at the same time.

in my experience both this and multiple injured on their way to the hospital at the same time can both lead to the same issue; two in one bed.

if this happens, one of the dwarves will be ignored by my medics while deconstructing the bed[the fix for that normally] would replace the one they're helping too.

it's not really a lethal bug if you like to watch your doctors work, but it's still quite annoying..

I saw this once recently when a dwarf in the middle of rescuing one patient cancelled his job, then decided to grab another without putting the first one down.  I don't remember what messed up his first job, spooked or burrow or something.

I bet this is haulception.

It's not. I've had this often enough as well; both victims were lying close to each other, but both on separate tiles and both unconscious before being picked up. The problem with this dual-saving is that they're both lobbed onto the same hospital bed as well. Only one of them would 'rest', the other would remain awake and 'no job.' Bed will have to be deconstructed and then the overseer will have to hope both are dragged each to a different bed.
