I can't find my fortress!

I made a fortress to explore in adventurer mode, then i made an adventurer in the nearest civ to my fort, but after 4 hours walking arround i still didn't find it, in fact i think im lost, is there a tool or hack to start as adventurer in specific parts of the map?

You can toggle the game mode with dfhack (command "mode").

Never tried it myself, but it seems to work like this: change from fortress to arena and pick one of your dwarves to assume control over him. Then change from arena to adventure and you can explore your fort with the guy you selected.

you might want to ask locals about the surroundings, one might tell you where your fort is so you can go there directly.

Easy but messy way...

Either A:retitre as peasent or B: duplicate the game folder..
Then simply goto Start Game -> Fortress -> Reclaim. And take some screen caps of where it shows your forts to be.

Hmmm, you could try going to your Travel map screen and searching for your fortress name in the sites list. It should point you in the direction if you use the zoom key while doing so. I'm not quite sure if your fortress is guarenteed to be there, but the last time I did this it showed me my fortress' location despite a week's journey worth of unexplored map.

Yeah i used the map, switched between adventurer, legends and fort mode many times trying to pinpoint the exact location, but the maps just don't match, its like im not even in the right world (only one world folder so thats impossible).

I may have to do what robertheinrich suggested.

Vanilla method:
  • Note location in reclaim screen
  • Note nearest civ
  • Embark in said civ
  • Ask locals for surroundings until fort is mentioned
  • Pilgrimage begins

I was on the wrong continent, they are very similar so i have only noticed after wasting 6 hours traveling... IM GODDAMN STUPID GRRRRRRRRR
