Walling off entryways
« on: March 18, 2012, 08:57:06 pm »

If I build a wall in an entryway, is it permanently sealed off from invaders? Or can they dismantle the wall themselves?

Walls cannot be destroyed by invaders.

Keep in mind that you may need to force the dwarves to build from a certain side (the want to build from the left, but if your fort is to the right, they wall themselves OUT!)

Easiest way to do this is to just build the wall 2 layers thick, and suspend the outer-layer.  Once the wall is built, you can cancel the suspended constructions.  They'll try to avoid standing on pending constructions when they build, ignoring the fact that it's suspended, and thus not really pending at all - so it forces them to build from the side you want them to build from.

I think raised drawbridges act like walls and are indestructible.
