traps traps everywere

i check the wiki, and got slightly confuse, which trap is auto which is only when trigure, or dose the metal really matter? is copper as good as iron giant axe?

Weapon traps, Cage traps and Stone traps are all automatically triggered when anything hostile and non trap avoid passes over them. Additionally so are pressure plates, but they have to be connected to something else for that to matter. Menacing spikes have to be triggered by something else - like pressure plates or levers to work, although things falling onto upright menacing spikes will be impaled. Menacing spikes do not jam, weapon traps do, and cage traps / ranged weapon traps / stone traps have to be resupplied with munitions.

As for materials, yes, yes they do matter. They matter a lot. Steel discs are far superior to wood, glass or copper for example.
