How do you drink blood as a vampire?

I tried biting but it didn't work, and the whole civ tried to kill me.

To fetch a +bucket+ of 7/7 water,
Urist fell down, and the ground hit Urist in the head, bruising the muscle, jamming the skull through the brain and tearing the brain!,
And Catten fell into some magma.

Get blood all over yourself, then proceed to drink the blood coverings.

That doesent work. You have to bite, and then pless E(at) It will sometimes show "suck the blood of Urist McVillageface" then select that

This. Find someone who is sleeping, or knock someone out. (e) next to them, select the 'feed on' option.

I'm assuming you must kill the NPC's and then drink the blood splatter like most vampires do...

I couldn't help but notice that no matter how many times I choose the "suck blood" option, my victim never runs out of blood and even eventually regains consciousness. I'd like to be able to drain them dry.

They can be drained dry, I've did it many times with kobold. Humans and other big things have lots of blood, you need suck long time. But small creatures, like cats or kobolds, will be drained dry with just few suckings.

depends on how hungry you are. you won't drink more blood than you need, so it's unlikely you'll drain a cow or something.
