My new economy!
« on: March 18, 2012, 12:47:19 pm »

The human law-giver arrived to tell me what a nice place I'd dug out for myself.. (I assume).

With her, she brought a bounty of untold wealth!  You see, she is a blind cave fish woman vampire.  And she was wearing 1284 amulets, 1288 crowns, 1229 rings, 1262 earrings, and 1221 bracelets.  All made of elf or human parts (2/3 elf, 1/3 human).

So I had my legendary axeman kill her while she was standing on the trade depot  ;).  Even though the best items are only worth about 40... and I'll get carpal tunnel syndrome trying to mark them for sale and then sell them... I think it was worth doing!  I'd guess that about 120,000 in value sitting on the depot.

have fun storing it. let's assume about 30 or 40 or so per bin, and that might be optimistic, you'll need a hundred bins or so.

Honestly, in a more advanced fort I create that much wealth in a month or two and it'll actually be useful things.

...good damn, that...  I...  You win economy.  Trade is yours.

Also learn how to use macros, it makes trading significantly easier.

It's not at all about the value :).  I have so many veins of gold that I let it melt in magma after I dig magma channels rather than spend the time stockpiling it.  I could goblet my way to riches (if my baroness didn't LOVE goblets).  The storage would be a problem if I planned to store it.  Instead, I plan to leave it sitting on the depot.

I'll totally have to learn macros though!

There's not much to learn - macros are easy.

It goes like this:
Hit Ctrl-R
Then do whatever it is you want to do repeatedly, like enter, down to select one thing.
Hit Ctrl-R again
Hit Ctrl-U, type in the number of times you want this to repeat (like 100)
Hit Ctrl-P to play the macro 100 times in a row

You can set macros to play thousands of times if need be.  It's the easy way to powergrind in Adventurer Mode.

Excellent.

On a related note, I looked up the history of Kiwan Liddestined, the blind cave fish woman vampire.  She only lived for 251 years.

Born in 255, she became a vampire in 315.  Confronted in 354 she moved to Magicwindy.  So at most, she spent 99 years in a place called Leanacts, a cave fish man collection of outcasts from the Mythical World, 39 of it as a vampire.

But in Leanacts, she killed...
- 1993 elves
- 982 humans
- 2108 elves
- 1029 humans

That looks like maybe 2 seperate huge massacres?  Nothing really stands out in the historical record.

In the end, one dwarf with an *iron battle axe* hacked off a foot, hacked off a leg, hacked into a kidney, and then kicked her in the head.

Proving that dwarves are awesome, humans are weak, and elves are (statistically) about twice as lame as humans.

I've never found wealth for trading to be a big deal, certainly not enough to bother with that!

Step one: build crappy crafts for a season.
Step two:  Set 10 kinds of random junk stone on repeat Cut at the jeweler.
Step three:  Set those same 10 kinds of random junk stone on repeat Engrave at a jeweler next to your finished goods stockpile.

Even at crappy quality levels, those crafts get pretty valuable pretty fast.  Once the jeweler skills up, you get easily get amulets that are worth 10s of thousands of dwarfbucks.  And you have bins of them.

It's new.  I think 34.01 added it without much announcement.

Not quite, that just proves that she lived near more elves than humans.

Vampires have huge kill lists because they only attack sleeping targets, and nobody has any really good defense against vampires right now - no heroes rise up to hunt vampires specifically, and even though heroes always know who the vampires are, the mobs that drive vamps out are very slow to form and never catch the vampire.

As such, vamps can easily kill tens of thousands of victims even when completely obvious, and no race is any better at stopping them than any other.

Note that it judges on a per-caste basis.  Human men and human women are both named "Human".  So it registers 982 women killed and 1029 men killed, or the other way around, probably men first because male appears first in the caste listing.  You'll notice turkey hens and gobblers listed separated, and if you modded the raws to have it display "Human F" then it would show the relevant kills.

Fun Fact: 62 kills per year, although if all those were during the vampire phase, that's 156 per year.
