Sometimes I get too used to playing Dwarf Fortress, and when I go to edit text files or something I sometimes try to shift + arrow my way around the document to edit it. Too much time staring at ASCII

Its probably the first game I felt really engaged by. First game i've been interested enough to look at whats going on behind the scenes. The ability to read and understand the raws is the biggest gift I got from this game.

I care about my dwarves. Thats why i'm finding better ways of controlling disease. Eventually we'll have gathered all the !!SCIENCE!! we need to create a perfect fort where no dwarf ever dies and everything is perfect. Until then i'm designing a fort that doubles as a giant blender.

Society would work better if we cared a lot less about ourselves and more about the society as a whole. Also, if you take a break you're probably going to be "replaced".

i care for my dwarves (and my goblins!).

but if melting the fat off of them while sprinkling exotic dust on them turns them into invincible killing machines, so be it.

also, DF made me appreciate the lines like:

"WHY LITTLE MANS KEEP DYING?"

It made me a person who is able to realize that sometimes you cannot help something that is crashing and burning into the ground, but instead you pull up a lead throne and watch the flaming, horrific mess crash into the ground. In short: See life a a big pile of !!FUN!!
