Flesh-and-blood MEGABEAST Gods...
« on: March 13, 2012, 06:25:35 pm »

I had an idea to create a race of "gods" that would actually be humanoid megabeasts, unusually suited to becomming objects of worship.  I don't necessarily want to get rid of the standard gods UNLESS you could make them just have one "main" god (an elven Force) with a bunch of physical gods existing in the world.  I just want to make sure the mechanics of religion don't get screwed up in worldgen.

You could assign different castes of this race to different spheres.

Naturally, they would have things like lair: SHRINE, and the POWER token.

So, if I created this race, along with it's different castes, like God/Goddess of Fire, etc., we'd have civilizations worshipping Greek-style deities.  What if you didn't even have the Force religion in an entity? Would that civ naturally just gravitate to these deities? Or would they never worship anything at all?

I would be slightly worried about them breeding like rabbits, but megabeasts never do that unless you have their cave numbers way up, so...

Megabeasts already get worshipped. So you want to get megabeast gods ? Good luck with that when a mere mortal kills one. Hell in my world, usually around year 120, half a human village decides to worship a dragon.

Mostly they worship them so they don't get slain/thieved from/eaten, but still it would be awesome if worship could bring power, and with enough worshippers, they could change from dragons to dragon gods.
