About werebeasts
« on: March 13, 2012, 12:25:44 pm »

1. The type of the beast does make any difference on the power of the bestial form? (i know some gain extra attacks like poison bites), how powerful would be a were-mammoth?

2. Whats the best way to get cursed? you can let the cursed ones bite/scratch you in human form? or they must be transformed to spread the curse?

3. Can you make the gods angry so they will curse you?

4. Does every civilization target you once you become a werebeast or they have to *know* that you are one by observing you transform?

5. When you get a metal weakness do you become stronger against other metals? can a gold coin thrown at you blast your head due to gold weakness or it is less severe?

1. Size varies with differenz wereraces, generally bigger is better for combat - so a weremammoth is preferable to a werehamster. depending on the creature, you get different attacks like scratch attacks if you have claws, but thats about all on that topic.

2. You only get infecten if you are bitten by a werebeast in bestial form, so yu have to wait until full moon.

3. afaik the curses are created in worldgen, so you cannot profane temples yourself to be cursed...but well, try beating a high priest to death with his own left leg, eat his heart, then cut of his head and throw it around in the temple - its fun anyway.

4. in your human form, you are still allied with the civs you were before getting bitten - same as necromancer and vampire, just don bite folks heads off.

5. yes, you get an overall material resistance, except for your particular weakness. iirc it was all damage/2 and weakness damage*10, but im not sure about that. folks dont throw their gold around, but i'd prefer a material weakness like bismuth bronze or steel vs iron/copper/bronze/silver.

Thanks for all the info, i just have one more question:

Does the world history still generate events after the initial generation? There is only a single werebull in my world, and i forgot to check if he was still alive, its a freaking awesome world, but a decent curse is a must have for me, is there a chance to have more poeple cursed while i play?

To get more werebeasts you'd need to get people to be bitten in either fortress or adventure mode then abandon your fortress/ retire your adventurer. No more world-gen type events will happen after the initial world-gen run.

I have a question too: Does the material weakness affect your human form or just your new beastly form?

Only beast form. The weakness and resistance is on the genned werecreature instead of the interaction.

Hm, have you considered murder?  It's either that or letting it go.
