Dog died of old age - can't butcher?

A dog died of old age.  The corpse is in a refuse pile, right next to the butcher's shop, and is not rotten.  But the butcher's shop didn't queue up a "butcher" task.

I did so manually; it was soon cancelled due to a lack of butcherable items.

Can you not butcher dogs?

Or can you not butcher animals that died of old age?

Or something else?

think you can't do anything with tamed animal corpses... aside from using their bones/skulls. (pets you can bury though..)

From my experience, any creature that dies of old age is not avalible for butchery.

I found it odd myself. Maybe the meat's too tough?
