This is not going well for the merchants...
« on: March 02, 2012, 11:23:44 pm »

Merchants showed up in my terrifying region, escorted by a swordsdwarf and a macedwarf. The swordsdwarf is just making more enemies and the macedwarf got both of his legs broken.

The merchants are running around in circles.

I have 19 dwarves safely inside, and I completely sealed ourselves off from the outside. Population by reproduction for the win?\

EDIT:

STOP POSTING HERE PLEASE I made a new thread about my general adventures with zombies.

Thank you everyone for the help! I've since flooded the fortress I was working on and now have a new one going up.

I'm certain the merchants will be refreshed and well rested after their short term dirt nap. They'll even want to meet with you.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

If you dig yourself some pit traps the undead caravan folks and animals will path towards your dwarves and fall in the hole.  If you keep this up you can keep your area mostly free of non-native undead.  This'll give caravans and migrants a shred of a chance of getting into your fort before being murdered by zombies.   Native undead don't seem to come after you very much.  My embark has undead rattlesnakes that zoom about on the overworld and never come down into the fortress.

Nah, the merchants escaped.

Now I have to worry about the two kobold ambushes that got pwnd by a giant grasshopper corpse and a bunch of louse man corpses.

I've already sealed myself off from the outside so hopefully I'll be good

They're already inside.
